Role: Sole software engineer on the second iteration, partnering with the client's marketing consultant.
A Next.js and TypeScript rebuild of the marketing site for an insurance advisory firm with 35+ years in business.
Problem
The original WordPress site looked dated, was hard to find in search, and wasn't structured to support the firm's lead-generation strategy.
Approach
- Rebuilt the site in Next.js and TypeScript to modernize the brand.
- Restructured content and routing around SEO, giving each page a clear, unique URL.
- Implemented metadata, Open Graph and Twitter cards, a generated XML sitemap and robots.txt, and Google site verification, with shared defaults at the root layout so every page inherits them.
- Aligned engineering milestones with the marketing plan so the launch landed ahead of open enrollment.
Outcome
- Lighthouse scores of 100 for SEO and Best Practices, 98 for Accessibility, and 95 for Performance on desktop.
- Zero layout shift (CLS 0), so content stays put as the page loads.
- Since the relaunch, monthly active users have grown from ~300 to 464 (1.2K over 90 days), still up 12.6% month over month (Google Analytics).
